KR3

The KR3 PID controller is an advanced yet simple to use process controller with numerous features including built in timer, temperature programmer and a choice of 3 different PID algorithms. The instruments have universal input capability, up to 4 outputs and optional RS485 communications.

ON/OFF or PID Control – The KR3 can be used as either an ON/OFF or PID controller with a choice of single action or double action.

As well as heating/cooling control, the controller can be used to control mechanical devices via servomotor drives.

Temperature control range is between min -200C and max +1760C, depending on sensor type chosen.

PID Choice – There are 3 PID algorithms to choose from: Oscillating auto-tune, FAST auto-tune and Evo-tune.

4 Set Points / 8 Segments – 4 set points can be specified, enabling multi-stage temperature control, up to 8 segments (4 sets of ramp/soak).

Compressor Protection – The unit can be programmed with a time delay for compressor protection.

Alarms – Up to 3 separate alarms can be specified, including absolute Hi/Lo temperatures, threshold deviation from set points, Sensor Break and Loop Break alarms.

Timer Functions – The unit has in-built timer functions allowing 5 types of timing control.

Evo-green Energy Saving – To reduce power consumption, the unit can be programmed to enter energy saving mode after a set time, during which the display will show a single status light under normal operating conditions. The display returns to normal if any button is pressed or if an alarm occurs.

Dual Display – The KR process controller has a dual display consisting of 4 LED digits each. The larger (10.9mm digits) is selectable red, orange or green, and is usually used to show current process value. The smaller display (6mm digits) is green, and usually used to show current set point value. There are also 4 LEDs for showing output states, and a number of other status indicators (e.g. Alarm).

Dynamic Display – The colour of the primary display can be fixed (permanently red, orange or green) or dynamic (switching between colours depending on process value). Colour switching can be programmed to occur at specific deviations from the set point.

Size – The front panel is 78mm by 35mm in size.

Operator Keys – There are 4 keys (U, P, UP and DOWN), arranged to the right of the LED display area. These provide parameter access and specific functions.  The keyboard lock function can be used to restrict key operation.

Temperature Display – The unit can be set to display to the closest 0.1 or 1.0 degree C or F.

IP65 – The unit is IP rated 65, when mounted with panel gasket.

Inputs and Outputs – The KR3 PID controller has up to 2 inputs and 4 relay outputs. One input is assigned to a temperature sensor and the other is used as a control signal. The unit can cater for a wide range of different sensor types including PTC, NTC, PT100, PT1000 as well as infrared sensor input, and can also receive mA and mV input. The outputs are relay/SSR outputs, and can be used for device control, or configured for a variety of control functions including alarm and timing signals. Two of the outputs can be used as server motor drives for the control of mechanical devices.

Programming – Parameters can be configured through the operator keys, using an A01 key or via remote device using RS485 communication. Configuration software is supplied free and allows parameters to be configured on a PC and then downloaded to the controller.

Communications – The unit has built-in RS485 communications capability, and can be connected to up to 30 other units in a master-slave arrangement.
