KM2 PID Controller with Heater & Output Failure Alarms

The KM2 Controller is a 1/16 Din PID Process controller which in addition monitors the health of the heater, supply and power switching components by using an appropriate current transformer to measure the current. This makes it perfect for applications where multiple heaters or zones are connected which may have failed heaters circuits that could go un-noticed. In addition if the Control Relay/SSR fails on or off or the electrical supply is lost alarms can be activated.

Functions – The KM2 has powerful process control functionality including choice of PID or ON/OFF control, choice of 3 PID Autotune algorithms (Oscillating, FAST and Evo-tune) and a choice of single or heat/cool. Up to 4 set points are programmable for multi-stage processes and there is a wide choice of alarm functionality including Sensor Break, Heater fail (Over or Under current), Output and Supply failure.  The unit features programmable functions by digital inputs, built-in timer and Programmer (Ramp + Soak) capability

HMI – The KM2 process controller has a dual display consisting of 4 LED digits each. The largest (15.5mm high) can be set to be permanently either red, green or orange, or can be programmed to change dynamically according to current value. The smaller (7.6mm) display is always green and shows the currently active set point. Additional LEDs show output states, alarm and other status information.

This unit is DIN sized (1/16) with a front panel of 48mm x 48mm

There are 4 keys under the display area, two of which are labelled with Up and Down arrows. The other two are labelled with a left arrow and a looped arrow symbol – these perform largely the same functions as the P and U keys on the KR.

Inputs and Outputs – The KM2 DIN temperature controller has identical I/O options to the KR2. This includes inputs catering for a full range of temperature sensors, infrared and logical signals, plus mA and mV input and Current transformer for monitoring the heater and output health.

Up to 3 outputs are available with a wide choice of output type including relay, SSR, and digital.

Programming – The KM has the same set of parameters as that of the KR, which can be set manually via the keyboard, downloaded from an A01 programming key or remotely on a PC via RS485/USB

Supply – Wide range 24-240Vac/dc

Communications – The unit has on-board RS485 Modbus allowing access to all variables and functions.
